Hamilton Dickey

Served as mayor 1883-1884 and 1891-1892

Hamilton Dickey, an early Huntington undertaker, was successful in his 1883 campaign for mayor and was returned to the office again in 1891.

Early Huntington’s streets were a sea of mud after any heavy rain, and after putting up with that for years, the city’s first two streets – 3rd Avenue and 9th Street – were paved during Dickey’s administration.

He died in 1904.
