After second terms for Garland and Dickey, William H. Bull was elected mayor in 1892.
Bull was born in 1840. On coming to Huntington, he first worked as a night policeman at a salary of $1.25 a night. Later, he operated a livery stable and became one of the young city’s most prominent grocers.
On Jun 1, 1892, Huntington had its first free mail delivery. To make that possible, council required that all houses be numbered and signs erected with the names of streets and avenues.
W.H. Bull died in 1918.
